High School Honors:  All-State football, basketball, and track; Northern Indiana All-Conference tackle; All-Conference in basketball.

College Attended:  University of Notre Dame Graduated:  1942

College Honors:  All-American in football; played in Chicago All-Star game; also lettered in track.

Professional Athletic Background:  Drafted by Washington Redskins; played pre-season at center and linebacker; had bad knee, so returned to Notre Dame as line coach.

Coaching Experience:  10 years at Notre Dame, including 4 years coaching National Football Championship team under Frank Leahy; 1 year at Indiana University; 2 years in professional league in Canada; also served 3 years as an assistant basketball coach at Notre Dame with Moose Krause.

Special Recognition:  Inducted into Hammond Sports Hall of Fame 1988; honored as Notre Dame 100 Club Man of Year; active in several Notre Dame and community organizations.

Family:  Wife, Julia (deceased); daughter, Susan.
