High School Honors:  2-year starter for both offense and defense; All-City, All-St. Joseph County, All-Northern Indiana Conference 1965; All-State Herald Times 1965; Riley HS Wildcats ranked 3rd in state polls 1964, 1965; National Honor Society 1965, 1966.

College Honors:  Member of 1967 Big 10 Co-Champions; played in Rose Bowl 1968; 3-year varsity letterman; 2-year starter as offensive guard and center; co-captain 1970; Academic All-Big 10; received Jack Gimbel Award, recognizing distinguished athletic accomplishment, scholarship, and outstanding mental attitude; a back injury ended his playing career in the Fall of 1970; served as IU graduate assistant 1971.   

Special Recognition:  I Men’s Association Board of Directors 1985-2006; member of Athletics Committee 2002-2006; worked for Indiana University Foundation as Senior Development Director 1972-2002; began as Vice-President of Finance, Lilly Endowment Inc., 2003.
