High School Honors:  All-State and All-City 2 years in football; named MVP in City of Detroit 1945; named to the Detroit All-Time Prep Football Team 1951 for the first half century; was also All-City 2 years for indoor track.

College Attended:  Purdue University          Graduated:  1950

College Honors:  Team's MVP 1948; 3rd on Purdue's all-time rushing charts; awarded 4 varsity football letters; earned All-American honors; played in East-West Shrine Game; played in the first Senior Bowl Game 1950.

Professional Athletic Background:  Green Bay Packers 1950; Detroit Lions 1951; injuries ended his career.

Coaching Experience:  Assistant football coach at Gary Emerson for 10 years, then head football coach 1962-1974; also served as assistant track coach 4 years, head golf coach 6 years, and head baseball coach 10 years; started the wrestling program and was head coach 6 years; retired from coaching in 1974; head coach records - football 36-81-3; wrestling 33-18-1; baseball 45-80.

Coaching Honors:  Shared Northwestern Conference football title 1972; recognized by the “Old Timers Athletic Association” 1994.

Special Recognition:  Served as Emerson's athletic director 1960-1969 and 1976-1981; Emerson was terminated as a comprehensive high school in 1981 through realignment of Gary's schools; retired after 40 years as teacher-coach; inducted into the Purdue Hall of Fame 2004.
