WILLIAM "BILL" ROBERTSON

College Attended:  University of Evansville         

Career Information:  Covered sports for the Evansville Press for 40 years from 1937 to April 30, 1977; covered more than 700 football games in his career, ranging from 6 man football to Notre Dame and the Big 10; was called the “Bard of Boonville” by sports colleagues; wrote a column called “The Firing Line” for 27 years.

Special Recognition:  IHSAA awarded him a Certificate of Merit "For Unselfish and Dedicated Contributions to Total Sports Programs in Indiana" in 1966; honored by University of Evansville Alumni Association in 1975 in recognition of his outstanding service and loyalty to the university; selected as Sportswriter of the Year by the Indiana Football Coaches Association 1978; inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame 1983. 

Mr. Robertson passed away December 30, 2003.
