College Honors:  All-State football 1932, 1933, 1934; All-Conference Big 10 1932-1934; All-American 1933, 1934; Outstanding Athlete Big 10 1933; Purdue Most Valuable Player 1934; won halfback poll for Chicago Tribune All-Star game 1935; played in Shrine East-West game 1935; in track - State Javelin Champion 1933, 1934, 1935; state record 1935; Big Ten Javelin Champion 1933; Big 10 All-Conference Track Team 1933-1934; All-American Track Team 1933; National Intercollegiate Javelin Champion 1933.

Coaching Experience:  Assistant coach at Purdue 1938-1941; coached at Isaac C. Elston HS, Michigan City; assistant coach at Purdue 1946-1947.

Outstanding Players Coached:  Abe Gibron, former pro and head coach of Chicago Bears; John McKay (USAAF) San Marcos, TX, who later became head coach at University of Southern California.

Coach Purvis passed away March 18, 1989.
