High School Honors: Varsity football player under Coach Herman Byers; 1st undefeated team at Reitz 1946.

College Attended: University of Evansville      Graduated: 1951

College Honors: Varsity football player 1948-1950 under Coach Don Ping; member of two Ohio Valley Conference Championship Teams 1948-1949.

Coaching Experience: Assistant football coach at Morganfield, KY, 1951-1953; assistant coach at North High School 1955-1960; head coach at Evansville Bosse HS 1961-1983, with a record of 111-99-13; retired from coaching 1983.

Coaching Honors: Defensive Coordinator for North-South All-Stars in 1947; selected as Evansville Football Coach of the Year 7 times; won or shared 8 City Championships and two Southern Indiana Athletic Conference Championships; 1967 team was undefeated.

Outstanding Players Coached: Gordon Slade, John Hoover, Mike Dickens, Stan Duncan, Mike Runau, Terry Suggs, Bob Rogers, Don Deicken, Mark Holsapple, Larry Rogers, Monty King, Bill Lahanis, Brian Outlaw, Brent Flening, Chris Johnson, Jeff Chestnut, Bobby Lewis, Mike Tooley, Steve McRae, Morris Long, and Oscar Fields; coached 19 All-State players and had 15 players as members of the South All-Star Team.

Special Recognition: Ten year member of United Press International Football Coaches Board; inducted into the University of Evansville Athletic Hall of Fame; past-president of Evansville Coaches Association; named Evansville Westside Civitan Citizen of the Year in 1981; family named Central Indiana Tennis Family of the Year 1981; was a teacher and assistant athletic business manager at Bosse HS.

Coach Owen passed away December 23, 1998.
