Coaching Experience: Student coach at WKU in 1948; assistant coach in football and basketball at Harlan, KY, HS 1949 and at Mayfield, KY, HS 1950; head football coach at Mayfield, KY, 1951- 1955, with a record of 37-12-1; head football coach at Lincoln High School in Vincennes, IN, 1956-1959 and 1965-1975, with a record of 77-65-4; head football coach and athletic director at Bolton High School in Alexandria, LA, with record of 23-18-0; total head coaching record of 137-95-5; also coached track 6 years, assistant basketball coach 5 years, and golf coach 22 years; retired from coaching football in 1975.
Coaching Honors: Coach of the Year in 1954; 27 years as head football coach with several individual honors for civic and sports organization for coaching in Kentucky and Indiana.
