High School Honors:  Honored as Male Athlete of the Year in 1956, 1957; lettered in football, baseball, basketball, and track; was also top in his class academically.

College Attended:  Wilmington College       Graduated:  1961

College Honors:  Played football, baseball, and track at Wilmington; was team captain and MVP in football and baseball; served as graduate assistant in football and baseball at Ohio U.

Coaching Experience:  Assistant football coach at Defiance College 1963; head coach at Defiance 1964-1966; in 1967, became assistant coach at University of Wisconsin, leaving for the Washington Redskins under coach Vince Lombardi as personnel talent scout in 1970; head football coach at Earlham College 1971 and 1972; rejoined Redskins in 1972 as a linebacker coach for George Allen; under Jack Pardee in 1978, he coached receivers, tight ends, and special teams; in 1981, under Joe Gibbs, named Director of Pro Player Personnel, then became Director of Player Personnel with head coach Norv Turner; with Redskins for 25 years, working with 7 head coaches, 5 general managers, 3 owners, and 56 assistant coaches, of which 13 became head coaches in the NFL; retired from Redskins.

Coaching Honors:  Won Mid-Ohio League Championship in 1966; NAIA Ohio Coach of the Year 1966 after a 9-0 record; Defiance posted the nation's longest winning streak and number one defensive team in nation; Redskins played in four Super Bowls, winning 3 while he was on the staff - XVII 1983, XVIII 1984 (lost), XXII 1988, and XXVI 1992. 

Special Recognition:  Named to the Wilmington College, Defiance College, Butler County, and Talawanda High School Halls of Fame; inducted into NFL Scouts Hall of Fame; serves as a motivational speaker for a variety of venues; in 2009 and 2011, served as a football consultant in Serbia; received 2011 Wilmington College Alumni Citation for Distinguished Professional Achievements.
