High School Honors:  Two varsity basketball awards; three varsity football awards and 4-year starter; captained school’s championship football team 1950; All-Catholic Football Team 1949-1950; All-City and All-Ohio Football Team 1950; received football scholarship to Purdue University.

College Attended:  Purdue University            Graduated:  1955

College Honors:  Two varsity football awards 1953, 1954, playing center and linebacker 4 years; member of 1952 co-Big Ten Championship team; winner of Ulysses S. Grant DeBach Award for Scholarship by Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.

Coaching Experience:  Assistant football coach, Lowell HS, 1955-1956; started program and was head football coach, Anderson Highland, 1956-1958; head football coach, Crawfordsville, 1959-1975; career football record of 100-60-7; also coached track and basketball.

Coaching Honors:  IFCA Class AA Coach of the Year 1972 for District 3; coached first Sagamore Conference Championship team 1968 and won again 1972.

Outstanding Players Coached:  Kelley Cochrane, U of Miami, FL; Mike McCarthy, U of Cincinnati; John Mitchell and Rick Norvell, Millikin College; John Hesser and Dan Stenger, Purdue; Tobin McClamroch, DePauw University.

Special Recognition:  Active in the formation of Indiana Football Coaches Association and served on its first Board of Directors; served as starter and referee at many college track meets; served as a Crawfordsville city councilman 4 years, then elected mayor 1976-1987.
