High School Honors:  3-year letterman in basketball and baseball; All-Sectional Basketball Team 1929-1930.

College Attended:  Butler University            Graduated:  1934

College Honors:  Member of Phi Kappa Phi Fraternity, John Marshall Honor Society, and Blue Key Honor Society; All-American Basketball Team 1933; basketball team captain 1934; played 3 years of baseball and basketball.

Officiating Experience:   Officiated high school football 1937-1975; officiated college football 1940-1974; refereed first North-South High School All-Star game in Bloomington; officiated in semi-final game of first IHSAA football play-off; worked in Tangerine Bowl and Grantland Rice Bowl.

Coaching Experience:  Assistant basketball coach to Tony Hinkle at Butler 1934-1935; varsity basketball coach at Broad Ripple 1935-1972, reaching Final Four 1944-1945; golf coach at Broad Ripple 1973-1974; assistant football coach at Broad Ripple 1942-1943; also served as a baseball coach at Broad Ripple 36 years.

Special Recognition:  Inducted into Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame 1974, Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame, Indianapolis Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame, and Butler Athletic Hall of Fame 1992; received Outstanding Service to Youth Award from International Lions Club 1973.

Family:  Wife, Doras; son, Donn (Linda); granddaughters, Erin and Amy; 5 great-granchildren.

Coach Baird passed away March 20, 2007.
