College Honors:  All-Mid American; MA Champions 1950; Salad Bowl Champions 1950; 4-time football letter winner; heavyweight wrestler.

Coaching Experience:  Assistant coach at Celina, OH, HS in 1952; K.W. Dutchman playing coach 1952–1953; Guelph University head coach 1954-1955; offensive–defensive line coach at Miami University 1956-1962; line coach at Yale University 1963-1964; offensive coordinator at Indiana University 1965-1969; coaches the Miami University Intercollegiate Club Football Team.

Professional Athletic Background:  Offensive-defensive line coach for Ottawa Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League 1970-1973; offensive line coach for Memphis Grizzlies 1974-1975; assistant coach for New York Giants 1975-1978.  

Coaching Honors:  Coached Miami U to 1962 MAC Championship and team played in Tangerine Bowl; coached Indiana University to 1967 Big Ten Championship and team played in Rose Bowl; coached Ottawa to 1973 Gray Cup Championship; coached Miami Grizzlies to 1974-1975 World Division Championships of WFL; Miami University club team won the East-West Conference 2009-2010. 

Outstanding Players Coached:  Terry Cole, IU and Baltimore Colts; Doug Crusan, IU and Miami Dolphins; Tom Nomnia, Miami U and Denver Broncos; John Mendenhall, New York Giants.

Special Recognition:  Elected to Miami University Hall of Fame, Guelph Hall of Fame, Butler County Hall of Fame, National Football League Alumni, and Indiana Football Hall of Fame; serves on the Board of Directors for the Indiana Football Hall of Fame.

Family:  Wife, Phyllis; children, Jay II, Elizabeth, and Julie; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
