Coaching Experience:  Football coach at Woodlan for 43 years - assistant junior high coach 1962, assistant high school varsity coach 1963-1964, and head coach 1965-2004; varsity coaching record of 287-117-4; also coached basketball and track. 

Coaching Honors:  Conference Coach of the Year 1971-1973, 1996; IFCA Coach of the Year 1971; Ball State Alumni Coach of the Year 1981; undefeated seasons (once tied) 1965, 1968, 1970; Allen County Athletic Conference Champions 1970, 1972-1975, 1982, 1984-1986, 1989, 1996; Sectional Champions 1981, 1982, 1988; Regional Champions 1981, 1988; Semi-State Champions and State Runner-up 1981; assistant coach of North All-Star Team 1972.

Outstanding Players Coached:  Terry Hoeppner, former head coach of Miami University, Ball State University, and Indiana University; Keith Fiedler, former coach at Carmel HS. 

Special Recognition:  Received the Fort Wayne Sports Corporation Community Award and the National Federation of Coaches Association's Indiana Football Coach of the Year Award in 2000; recipient of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Distinguished American Award in 2005; served as math and science teacher at Woodlan 1962-1988 and guidance counselor 1989-2005; retired from teaching and coaching in 2005; has served on the East Allen County School Board since 2006.
